There is no doubt that seeing the Labour boards pop up around town in the run up to elections is encouraging and uplifting.  It reassures our supporters and voters and spurs on our activists as they canvas and leaflet.

We have a core team who coordinate this mammoth task, and they would welcome more volunteers to deliver and erect and then recover the boards.

The boards will start to go up from the last week of March and they have to come down again the day after the election.

We have several boards, and some regular locations but we must make sure we double check with those who have had a board before in case they have moved.

What we need is more people to join the team as they roll out the boards.  There is a degree of strength and physical fitness required, but drivers are also helpful.

The team aim to contact anyone who has previously displayed one and also deliver new boards in key areas if residents indicate they would like one.  Another (hopefully less required) task is fixing boards if they become damaged or dislodged.

There is a great camaraderie amongst the board buddies and they have a wealth of experience to share about how best to deliver smoothly, and prioritise visible locations.

Occasionally a garden cannot accommodate a board, but we are always happy to supply window posters as an alternative.

All assistance is welcomed even if you can only do a day or two of the campaign.

If you can help, please contact southportlabour@outlook.com to be added to the team.
