Our Meols candidate - Steve Jowett

My name is Steve Jowett and I am delighted to stand once again as your Labour candidate in Meols for the council elections on May 4th.

My roots are deep in Meols, having lived in Southport for over 65 years and been active in the community for over 40 years, I care deeply about my town and Meols ward.

As the Secretary of the Crossens Community Association, a former local school governor and member of the Community Health Council I’ve decades of community involvement and activity.

For too long, the Conservatives and Lib Dems have taken people for granted here. I believe that you deserve hard work and dedication from your council representatives.

My promise to you – I will:

  • Be accessible and active in the community and council.
  • Listen to the views of local residents – and be responsive.
  • Assist residents struggling with the Conservative Cost of Living Crisis.
  • Provide strong representation for you on Sefton council.
  • Give support to small shops and local businesses – in line with Labour’s plan to reform and reduce business rates.

The Conservative Cost of Living Crisis has created misery for many. Their damage to our economy, NHS and other vital public services shows just how inept and uncaring they really are.

Now they want to make it harder for you to vote them out by introducing new voter ID laws – which Southport’s MP backed, like he also just did for a tax giveaway to the richest 1%.

So don’t forget you now need ID, such as a passport or driver’s licence, to vote at a polling station. Other ID is also valid, further details are on Sefton Council’s website.
