I am pleased to be your Labour candidate once more in this year's local council elections.
I have lived in Southport for seventeen years, many of those spent in Norwood ward, and I believe that it is a great place to live and work and which to bring up your family.
I share your hopes and concerns about the local area; I want Southport to stay a better place to live, helping residents with local issues, working with local community groups.
These are difficult times for us all with national cuts affecting the local services that matter to you, the austerity measures delivered by the Conservative government in successive budgets which have stretched council services to breaking point.
I want to work with my colleagues on Sefton council to deliver those hard pressed services in the fairest possible way for the people of Southport, to ensure that the residents of Norwood are affected as little as possible.
Sefton council has already delivered major investment into Southport; the Atkinson, investment into Meols Cop station from Labour run Merseytravel, maintained cleansing and lighting services despite the cuts, planning for our future generations through the local plan for housing, employment, jobs and skills through devolution, the Community Resilience Fund, putting money aside to assist communities through difficult times.
Many of you think that a vote for Labour in Southport will not be a winning vote and you have told us that you only vote Lib Dem to keep the Tories out. I am asking you to vote with your conscience, vote for the party that you want to win, vote Labour.
