I was born and raised in Southport and have lived here all my life. I spent 16 years driving buses locally serving the people of Southport, also seeing how our public transport has been reduced brutally leaving people isolated. I was elected as a councillor in Kew Ward in 2019 being one of the first 5 elected Labour Councillors in Southport since Sefton Council was formed.
I found my way to politics via my trade union, Unite. I served as a shop steward in the local bus depot for the last 6 years I was in work there. It was here I found how much I enjoyed advocating for others and using my voice and skillset to better the lives of others.
As a councillor I have sat on a number of committees, currently I sit on Adult Health & Social Care Overview & Scrutiny, and the Liverpool City Region Transport Committee. I genuinely love being in the privileged position to use my voice for others.
To date the work I’ve been able to take an active role on the transport committee supporting the metro mayor to deliver a better public transport system. With my previous career in the bus industry I understand how vital a good, reliable, and affordable bus network is to our community.
